Prayers for Advent
Growing in the Life of Prayer and Spiritual Practices
Pray and reflect with us this Advent during this season of preparation, hope and expectation ahead of Christmas.
Advent brings us closer to Christ who is with us. We are reminded that no one is beyond the reach of God's love.
We wait with joy for the Lord, the hope of the world.

People of Hope Prayer
In this season of Advent, inspire us to be people of hope. Encourage us not to be greedy for material possessions, but for justice and truth. Enflame us with a love for others, which crosses boundaries of race, religion and nationality. Stir within us a desire to fight for the integrity of creation and appreciate the immense beauty of the earth. Be with us, Lord, at this time, that we may be a people of hope. Amen. In this Advent of expectation draw us together in service, that the path we follow might lead us from a stable to a glimpse of eternity. Read more |

This Advent-time
we remember Mary and Joseph, giving thanks for their faithfulness, courage and obedience, stepping out into the unknown in the strength of your Spirit, playing their part in the fulfilment of your plan to bring your prodigal people home again. We pray that their example might be the pattern of our lives, that when your gentle whisper breaks through the clamour of this world and into our small corner, we might be ready to listen, and having listened, to act.
