St. Patrick
Saint Patrick was a fifth-century Christian missionary and Bishop in Ireland. Known as the "Apostle of Ireland", he is the primary patron saint of Ireland, the other patron saints being Brigit of Kildare and Columba.
According to the autobiographical Confessio of Patrick, when he was about sixteen, he was captured by Irish pirates from his home in Britain and taken as a slave to Ireland, looking after animals; he lived there for six years before escaping and returning to his family. After becoming a cleric, he returned to northern and western Ireland. In later life, he served as a bishop, but little is known about the places where he worked. By the seventh century, he had already come to be revered as the patron saint of Ireland. Read more. |

3 MINUTES WITH ST. PATRICK
As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, there seems to be no better time to remember what this important figure actually represents: forgiveness.
In our modern celebrations of the Irish patron saint however, this message is often lost. To share the authentic legacy of St. Patrick and remember WHO we celebrate, we hope you will enjoy this 3-minute video. Created by two-award winning television producers and in conjunction with Give Us This Day, this video kicks off our Sober St. Patrick’s Day® celebration which we will host in New York City for the 13th year on March 16, 2024 directly after “the oldest, biggest and best parade in the world”. |
